There is no cure for common cold, but there are some ways to avoid getting one, even during cold and flu season.
The best defence is to wash your hands regularly with warm, soapy water and to avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands - all ways that gems can get into your system. Get plenty of rest, eat right, exercise and quit smoking to boost your immune system and reduce upper respiratory tract infections.
If you get sick, over the counter remedies coupled with warmth, plenty of fluids and a little time are the only weapons you have against a cold or flu. If you develop a bacterial infection at the same time, however, antibiotics can help.
If your doctor prescribes antibiotic, take all of them- even if you start feeling better. If you don't you may not have enough medication in your body to kill the germs, but enough to help the germs learn to resist the medicine.
